And with the extra links you and others have shared, the Challenge becomes even better. <br /><br />Speaking of connections <a href="http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20180404-why-2001-a-space-odyssey-remains-a-mystery" rel="nofollow">Why 2001: A Space Odyssey remains a mystery</a>Ramon Gonzalezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16129830563029534511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953008377950396317.post-62414555796122230012018-04-07T20:54:49.243-07:002018-04-07T20:54:49.243-07:00speaking of connections between random concepts —

Apparently you are as good at hands on design as you are at research, tip my hat.<br />Back in the 90's I used a portable keyboard that stored a limited amount of text called the AlphaSmart. It is not a tablet, or a computer, just a very nice battery powered keyboard that stores what you type in and has a cord to transfer the text to a computer. It also has a tiny little screen that showes one section of text. Not really a tablet but . . <br />Thanks again for another fun search project and an even better answer.GRayRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11355369343845540787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953008377950396317.post-61590833401446307352018-04-05T06:49:29.996-07:002018-04-05T06:49:29.996-07:00Great finds, Remmij. We worked together back in the day on Search at Google before he left to do even greater design work in the Valley. Thanks also for finding the FSU article. Another writeup that I'd forgotten about. That was a fun lecture to put together--one that spanned research and innovation from Xerox PARC, Apple, IBM, and Google. <br />Dan Russellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13603209997260423532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953008377950396317.post-36958980961800190012018-04-04T19:59:57.888-07:002018-04-04T19:59:57.888-07:00…perhaps Siri will rewrite/re-imagine search/table...…perhaps Siri will rewrite/re-imagine search/tablet history…?<br /><a href="https://imgur.com/a/cAiqt" rel="nofollow"> Vademecum </a><br /><a href="https://www.engadget.com/2010/10/12/visualized-the-ipad-that-never-was-complete-with-camera-and-wi/" rel="nofollow">article</a><br /><a href="https://www.engadget.com/2018/04/03/apple-hires-former-google-ai-leader/" rel="nofollow">John Giannandrea</a><br /><a href="https://qz.com/1244770/what-apple-is-getting-by-poaching-googles-top-ai-executive-john-giannandrea/" rel="nofollow">are you thinking of an redux?</a><br /><a href="https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/xw8pgn/apple-has-been-struggling-with-the-stylus-for-20-years" rel="nofollow">the $100 pencil</a><br /><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/mwichary/sets/72157623166487665/" rel="nofollow">on flickr, sans handle</a><br /><a href="https://www.fsunews.com/story/news/2016/02/22/inside-googleplex-lecture-provides-peek-tech-industry/80726610/" rel="nofollow">Dansplaining… pictures</a><br /><br /><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tablets_of_Stone" rel="nofollow">early tablet prototypes</a><br /><a href="https://mashable.com/2012/02/03/ipad-history-devices/#MroeW38RG8qn" rel="nofollow">one tablet history</a><br /><a href="https://www.zdnet.com/article/surface-tension-the-long-strange-history-of-the-windows-tablet/" rel="nofollow">microsoft</a><br /><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_tablet_computers" rel="nofollow">the wiki history</a><br /><br /><a href="https://imgur.com/a/PiDVw" rel="nofollow">does it all end up in the Matrix?</a><br /><a href="https://www.brainpickings.org/2016/12/26/mary-somerville-scientist/" rel="nofollow">Mary's £10 note</a><br /><a href="https://www.rbs.com/rbs/news/2017/08/royal-bank-of-scotlands-polymer-p10-note-to-enter-circulation-on.html" rel="nofollow">RBS</a>remmijhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17985809654574916217noreply@blogger.com
