The sword in the stone.

Marcellamacahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03746508150717638886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953008377950396317.post-87373860438647631462013-03-27T13:25:51.724-07:002013-03-27T13:25:51.724-07:00Didn’t get a chance to work on the original questi...Didn’t get a chance to work on the original question(s) as work has been so crazy but I am surprised no one suggested looking at the map collection at the US geological Survey. I have actually been asked to research old mines previously which is why I knew about this resource –

http://nationalmap.gov/historical/index.html

The area in question is covered by the Oakland east maps which has the most detail but is also covered by the Concord maps. Looking at the 1949 Oakland east map you can see the one area marked as quarries and then the 1959 has the 2 quarries marked and in fact shows a road that goes to a access/side tunnel to the main Broadway tunnel. Both are not on the 1997 map but there is a pond where the quarry was which is a good reference point.
mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14284770650100851851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953008377950396317.post-91251098125781033452013-03-27T11:42:09.124-07:002013-03-27T11:42:09.124-07:00Hi Dr. Russell
