Find Vancouver International Airport (or YVR, which is the same).
2. Rotate the N on the compass (click and drag) to Northwest (up-left). This way, UP will now be Northeast.
3. Use the up arrow on your keyboard until you leave Canada and keep going until you reach land. You may even stop and zoom out and in whenever you wish on the way there, nothing will change.

I found Vigo Airport (or VGO, in Spain) to be the answer almost exactly (although the line still barely touches Greenland on the way there).

Because it's not easy to rotate the N on the compass to exactly Northwest, you should check carefully the initial bearing. I did it twice:
1. While on Google Earth, use any Protactor / Angle app, like Meazure by C Thing or the swiss-knife-like tool PicPick (by the Portuguese company NGWIN). You should then zoom as much as you can on — but carefully not to zoom too much, or GEarth will start tilting the view. You may always untilt until vertical view again with shift + up arrow or shift + back mouse wheel. If you use (on Meazure or PicPick or whatever) an angle with a vertical line and a 45.0 degrees line, the vertical line on the screen will also serve as a guide when you then click and hold the up arrow on Google Earth.
2. After finding your answer (let's say Vigo Airport), check the initial bearing / heading of the line YVR-VGO on any of the online great circle mapper tools. My favorite one for this stuff (and the one I used) is the very simple Distance (How Far is It?) page on indo.com. After getting (on Wikipedia) the coordinates for Vancouver and Vigo Airports, and feeding them into "How Far is It?", it gave me exactly 45.0 degrees (http://bit.ly/YVR-VGO):

"Initial heading from 49:11:41N 123:11:02W to 42:13:45N 8:37:39W:
northeast (45.0 degrees)"

Note that ACSCDG.com, although very easy to use, is a litle less precise than indo-com, only getting degrees to zero decimals. If you zoom in on the ACSCDG.com map, 45 degrees will be anything between Ourense and Viana do Castelo. Vigo is just a little bit to the South of the bisector of the line between Ourense and Viana do Castelo. On indo.com, the initial heading for a route from YVR to Porto (OPO) is 45.7 degrees (http://bit.ly/YVR-OPO)

I loved this challenge.
